Thoughts
On The USA
We just celebrated July 4th
with the usual collection of barbecues, patriotic songs,
fireworks, picnics, and family gatherings.
It was good to enjoy a day of patriotism and
flag-waving. And I
hope it caused at least a little of contemplation on
national issues. It caused me to thank God for our
nation and to pray for the Unites States of America.
We have our issues, obviously, but I still believe that we
are a blessed land with a great future ahead of us.
Here are some of my thoughts about our
country:
I thank God for the freedom we have to
worship Him openly.
It pains me to see many exercising that freedom by
choosing not to
worship God, but this is their right and I thank God for
this freedom. I pray, though, for a revival of belief,
worship, and living by faith.
I thank God for the freedom of speech.
It pains me when this freedom leads to anger,
division, and hatred, but I nevertheless thank God for this
freedom and I plan on using it to fully express my faith in
and my love of God.
I thank God for the freedom to choose
our own leaders.
It pains me that we have often chosen poorly, yet I
still thank God for the privilege and I pray that we will
use it wisely.
I thank God for His provision in giving
us a beautiful and abundant land.
It pains me to see our land and water trashed and
destroyed, so I pray that we will be better stewards of what
He has given us.
Our land is far from perfect, but it is
still the best nation on Earth in which to live, to worship,
and to raise a family.
See you Sunday!
