Back to School Bash

We invite kids in grades 1-6 to join us to celebrate the beginning of a new school year with our annual Back to School Bash!  This year we are going to celebrate all night and into the wee hours of the morning by having a lock-in here at the church.  This event is free.  We will start our celebration at 8:00 pm on July 31 and end at 8:00 am on August 1.  We will enjoy pizza and tons of fun activities.  Plan on bringing drinks and snacks to share.  For more information or to RSVP contact Amy Zimmerle.

Traveling?

We're halfway through the vacation season, and we know of many people traveling this month and next.  Of course, we miss friends when they're not at church, but that's okay with us, because family travel and vacations are incredibly healthy!  Here are some things to remember:

  • Let us know when and where you're going.  We enjoy hearing about our members travel--and we will also be glad to pray for you!

  • Stay safe.  Our family survived, with God's help, a major travel disaster a few years ago.  It was a reminder to me to pray, to keep my speed down on the road, and to avoid pushing the extra mile.

  •  Worship on the road.  We've had great experiences in other churches, as well as some great family worship times when we couldn't make it to church.

  • Ask for help if you need it.  Need transportation to an airport?  Need someone to check your home or feed the dog?  Chances are, we know someone who lives near you who would love to help.  That's one of the advantages of being part of a great church family!

  • Continue to give regularly.  Our expenses go on, of course, even when our members are out of town, so you can give ahead of time or online from our website even when you're out of town!

If you're gone this week, have a great time!  And if you're in town, I hope to see you Sunday!

Pastor Jack

PS.  My family and I will be in church on Sunday . . . and then we're going on a vacation ourselves.  You will have great preaching while I am gone.  On Sunday, July 12, David Johnson will preach.  And on July 19, Numa Gomez will join us!

Job Jar Saturday

Our job jar is available around the clock and it has many different jobs on it that need to be done on our buildings and grounds.  Sometimes, though, it's just more fun to join a group of others and get things done all at once!  We invite you to join us on Saturday morning, July 11, at 7:30 am, as we tackle the jobs on the job jar!

A wonderful opportunity for fellowship, education, and challenge for Senior Adults is planned for Tuesday, August 4, 2009.  Seniors from around our state will gather for the "Flagstaff Summit."  We'll spend this time focused on the theme of "Making Your Life Count."

The meeting will be at the beautiful Radisson Woodlands Hotel, 1175 W. Route 66 in Flagstaff.  For more info, contact Associate pastor, Numa Gomez.   The deadline to register is Sunday, July 19.  We look forward to seeing many of our FSBCA Seniors participate.  It is an incredible time of learning and fun.  We will leave on Monday, August 3, to participate in a pre-conference dinner at the Flagstaff Sizzler.

July Discipleship

We are excited about our four week discipleship series beginning Sunday evening, July 12, at 6:00 pm.

Men's Bible Study led by Dave Kelley.  We invite any men who would like to join for a great book study. We learn from the text and each other as we grow to be more Godly men in all ways.

Coed Bible Study led by Pastor Numa Gomez.  Jesus' life demonstrated that grace and truth can coexist.  The Bible describes Jesus as "full of grace and truth" (John 1:14). The challenge for believers today is how to express grace and truth in balance, as Jesus did.  You will learn to reflect Jesus' character as you offer others both hope and the need for salvation in Him.

Women's Bible Study led by Women's Ministry Team.  This is a time of Bible study, prayer time, and friendship/relationship building.  It's an excellent opportunity to get to know other ladies while studying God's wonderful truths found in the Bible.

Join us beginning Sunday Night July 12, at 6:00 pm.  As always, we offer excellent classes for Preschool, Children, and Youth.  Contact Phil Johnson with questions.

The Women of Faith Weekend is October 2-3.  It's a complete two day event where you will laugh, cry, and realize that you're not alone. Heart-felt, hilarious messages, gripping drama, and amazing music. An experience like no other!

The deadline for the cost of $99.00 is July 19.  It's a great time to connect with the women of our church.  Contact Mary Kaye for more information at 623 932-2723.
